The Facilities Engineer – Controls & Safety Systems is responsible for the design, operation, and reliability of facility control and life‑safety systems supporting semiconductor manufacturing. This role ensures safe, compliant operation of critical fab infrastructure through ownership of control systems, interlocks, alarms, and safety monitoring associated with utilities, hazardous production materials (HPM), and cleanroom environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, Automation, or related Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting control and safety systems in a semiconductor fab or similar high‑hazard manufacturing environment.
  • Hands‑on experience with PLCs, safety PLCs, SCADA/BMS platforms, and field instrumentation.
  • Working knowledge of hazardous gas/chemical safety systems and cleanroom infrastructure.
  • Strong safety mindset with ability to work in live manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain facility control systems including BMS, EPMS, SCADA, and safety PLCs.
  • Support control logic, I/O, and alarm management for fab utilities such as gases, chemicals, exhaust, UPW/Waste, HVAC, CDA, vacuum, and power distribution.
  • Review, test, and validate control sequences, interlocks, and alarm responses for new tools and facility upgrades.
  • Interface with OEMs, integrators, and IT/OT teams on control system architecture, cybersecurity, and standards.
  • Troubleshoot control‑related issues impacting safety, uptime, or utility performance.
  • Engineer and support facility safety systems including toxic gas monitoring, chemical leak detection, oxygen deficiency monitoring, fire alarm/suppression interfaces, and emergency shutdown systems.
  • Ensure proper functioning of safety interlocks, failsafes, and emergency responses tied to facility and process tools.
  • Participate in PHAs, HAZOPs, and risk assessments for new or modified systems involving hazardous materials.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and site EHS requirements.
  • Support fab expansion, tool installs, and upgrades with control and safety system scope development.
  • Review and approve control drawings, cause‑and‑effect matrices, MOPs, and commissioning plans.
  • Lead commissioning, testing, and turnover of control and safety systems into operations.
  • Maintain system documentation, as‑builts, alarm rationalization, and asset data in CMMS/BMS.
