About The Position

The Facility Attendant (Housekeeping & Janitorial) contributes to The INN Between’s mission by ensuring residents live in a clean, safe, dignified, and sanitary environment. This role is essential to maintaining cleanliness throughout resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, offices, and facility grounds, and supports the organization’s ability to provide high-quality medical respite and end-of-life care to individuals experiencing homelessness. This position requires a person who is self-motivated, compassionate, and committed to maintaining cleanliness at a high standard that reflects the care The INN Between provides to residents. RESIDENT-CENTERED & MISSION FOCUSED CARE Demonstrate compassion, respect, and professionalism in all interactions with residents. Maintain a trauma-informed, nonjudgmental presence and uphold the dignity of each resident. HOUSEKEEPING & SANITATION Maintain cleanliness, presentation, and sanitary conditions of: Resident rooms Bathrooms Common areas Staff work areas Kitchen/dining spaces (as assigned) Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces using approved procedures and products. Clean vacated rooms promptly and thoroughly to prepare for new resident admissions. Ensure all furniture, bedding, linens, and equipment are clean and ready for resident use. Follow scheduled cleaning routines and contribute to a consistent facility-wide cleanliness standard. SAFETY & COMPLIANCE Adhere to cleaning agent usage, procedures, and instructions. Ensure all cleaning agents, or dangerous or flammable materials are stored safely and in a locked area. Learn and follow State Department of Health Assisted Living Rules Section 432-270, as applicable to the role. Notify senior staff immediately in the event of: Incidents Hazards Damage Emergencies Safety concerns FACILITY SUPPORT Work with the Facility Manager to help ensure building exterior and grounds are maintained (as assigned) and that maintenance requests are completed in a timely manner. Assist with stocking of cleaning supplies, reporting needs, and maintaining an organized supply area. Support periodic deep-cleaning projects and special facility needs as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively communicate and build rapport with diverse individuals, including those experiencing homelessness and serious illness.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions consistently.
  • Basic computer skills (or willingness to learn simple digital tools as needed).
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.
  • Health evaluation performed by RN Supervisor including TB test and immunization review.
  • Must be current on flu and COVID-19 vaccination requirements (including booster), in alignment with organizational policy.

  • Carry and lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in housekeeping, janitorial services, healthcare, assisted living, shelters, or similar environments preferred (but not required).
