About The Position

The selected Project Manager will assist with interpreting and applying the 2010 ADA Standards, Chapter 11 of the NYC Building Code, as well as other applicable federal, state, and local statutes and regulations that pertain to accessibility. This position will work closely with Public Buildings Advanced Capital Planning Unit, to assist with the portfolio planning process through well-developed investigation and review of client needs and existing conditions, resulting in the creation of Advanced Capital Planning Assessments. This includes conducting surveys of existing buildings, and meetings with client agencies and other DDC staff. Duties may also include performing reviews of outside design consultants' work, participating in interagency meetings with design consultants and internal DDC staff, and conducting weekly construction site visits to assess the level of ADA/ Accessibility compliance.

Requirements

  • One year of full-time satisfactory experience in supervising employees performing project management work.
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in relevant fields or a four-year high school diploma with five years of relevant experience.
  • At least one additional year of experience in a supervisory capacity or as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant design and construction experience pertaining to accessibility.
  • Expertise in both the 2010 ADA Standards and Chapter 11 of the NYC Building Code.
  • Ability to communicate highly specialized and technical information to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to work in both a collaborative environment and independently.
