About The Position

Manage and oversee the day-to-day Facilities/Utilities maintenance operations to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant utilities, with a primary focus on boiler systems, steam generation, and industrial controls. Serve as the site subject‑matter expert (SME) for boiler operations, combustion controls, and utility system optimization. Manages preventive and predictive maintenance programs, ensures regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement across all utility assets.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or equivalent (GED); Bachelor’s Degree preferred; or equivalent experience.
  • 7–10+ years of experience in utilities, facilities, or industrial maintenance, with at least 5 years in boiler operations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the SME for boiler operations, steam distribution, feedwater systems, and combustion controls.
  • Oversee daily operation of boilers, chillers, air compressors, cooling towers, water treatment systems, and other utility infrastructure.
  • Lead troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and system optimization for all utility equipment.
  • Maintain and improve boiler control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA), including logic changes, tuning, and system upgrades.
  • Perform auditing tasks as required, including, but not limited to, preventative maintenance, safety, site walks, site-to-site peer audits, recommended spare parts lists, and commissioning support.
  • Develop and manage preventive, predictive, and reliability‑centered maintenance programs for all utility assets.
  • Develop new programs as needed to enhance equipment reliability.
  • Coordinate major repairs, shutdowns, and contractor activities.
  • Lead troubleshooting of control logic, communication networks, and system alarms.
  • Ensure all boiler and utility operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ASME, EPA, OSHA).
  • Maintain documentation for inspections, certifications, and regulatory audits.
  • Champion safety culture including, but not limited to, lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, and hazard recognition.
  • Oversee water treatment programs to ensure system integrity and environmental compliance.
  • Implement reliability improvements to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Assist other company sites as needed when external support is required.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies.
  • Follow SugarCreek safety rules and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
