About The Position

Crew member working in facility maintenance and/or general maintenance tasks. Completes routine facility maintenance such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, and/or general maintenance and construction.

Requirements

Valid Illinois Driver’s License
Must have the ability to operate equipment and tools safely and proficiently
Must possess ability to work in team efficiently.
Must possess customer service skills
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Knowledge of a variety of maintenance and manual tasks involved in the general upkeep, repairs, cleanliness, and overall aesthetics of buildings, grounds and playground equipment.

Nice To Haves

1 year experience in trades field
Certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 3 months of employment
Be in good physical condition and must have the ability to handle strenuous and varied physical activity in all weather, including but not limited to, extensive lifting, standing, walking and climbing.

Responsibilities

inspecting overall facility appearance, safety, and documentation
completing tasks as assigned by the Facility Trades Manager
General trades and construction work under the direction of the Facility Trades Manager
Custodial work as required
Snow removal operations as required
Pool maintenance as required
Help maintain a clean and organized maintenance shop
Actively supports and enforces the safety program instituted by the Park District
Maintains a working knowledge of all general agency and department-specific safety rules
Attends required safety program and in-service education meetings as directed
Corrects unsafe conditions and/or reports them to your director supervisor
Enforces safety disciplinary policies and procedures
Uses material handling equipment or staff assistance when lifting and/or moving objects 50 pounds or heavier
Uses protective gloves, masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE)
Performs other duties and functions as requested
On call nights and weekends as needed
