About The Position

This is a Non-Exempt position. Installs and maintains communication distribution systems and/or other signals. These systems comprise the physical architecture that supports voice, video, and data transmission within industrial, commercial and institutional complexes. The Cable Services Technician is a staff position serving in a technical-level capacity to Tribal departments and services and to participating agencies using Tribal systems. This position requires some of local and wide-area networks and cabling infrastructure. This position also requires the ability to integrate various equipment and provide sufficient experience for current and anticipated bandwidth needs. Under general direction the IT Facilities Manager must promote the use of IT Telecommunications industry standards; Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) and Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) and follow the National Electrical Code (NEC) for voice and data cabling installations by studying scopes of work, blueprint plans (including symbols used) and technical specifications.

Requirements

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Construction /laborer experience preferred.
Requires a valid Drivers’ License and be eligible for the Tribes’ vehicle insurance and maintain throughout employment

Work is performed indoors and outdoors with exposure to high level noise, fumes, airborne particles, septic conditions, temperature variations, dangerous equipment, and toxic and caustic chemicals.
