About The Position

The Facilities Technician plays an important role in supporting our nonprofit agency's mission by helping create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone who walks through our doors. This hands-on position cares for a 48,000 sq. ft. facility in Springfield, Ohio through daily cleaning, room setup, basic maintenance, and monitoring of building systems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work throughout the shift.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Working knowledge of cleaning tools, materials, and basic maintenance equipment.
  • Strong attention to safety, cleanliness, and detail.
  • Hands-on, dependable, and takes pride in serving others through their work.
  • Self-starter who can manage daily tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Observant and proactive in identifying safety, cleanliness, or maintenance needs.
  • Practical problem-solver with a service-minded, common-sense approach.
  • Team-oriented, respectful, and professional with staff, members, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Willingness to learn new systems, equipment, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the facility and grounds.
  • Perform routine cleaning and sanitizing of restrooms, locker rooms, pool areas, kitchens, offices, and common areas.
  • Empty trash and recycling and maintain interior and exterior appearance.
  • Set up and tear down rooms for programs, events, and community gatherings.
  • Monitor building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security, pool filtration) and report concerns.
  • Perform light maintenance and minor repairs (changing light bulbs, touch-up painting, filling dispensers).
  • Assist with basic landscaping and seasonal snow and ice removal.
  • Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and biohazard cleanups following safety protocols.
  • Complete work logs and communicate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission.
