Metron, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Facilities Technician responsible for our physical infrastructure in the Northern Virginia area. The Facilities Technician will perform general maintenance, repairs, reconfiguration and cosmetic updates within our Class A (Reston Town Center) and Flex Industrial (Sterling, VA) spaces. The Facilities Technician will report to the Metron Director of Security.

  • Review and execute facilities work orders and maintenance requests
  • Coordinate, schedule, and oversee specialized external vendors for periodic maintenance, complex repairs, and ad-hoc build-out projects that requires licensed expertise (e.g., large-scale HVAC, fire life safety system inspections)
  • Perform and prioritize minor general building repairs, including patching and painting drywall, replacing ceiling tiles, minor plumbing fixes, adjusting doors and locks, and replacing light bulbs/fixtures
  • Create checklists for and perform routine preventative maintenance tasks for facility equipment, basic building infrastructure, and common areas
  • Independently manage and execute physical logistics for office changes, moves, and company events. This includes assembling and moving furniture, setting up tables/chairs, and ensuring meeting room organization
  • Act as the first responder to urgent facility issues (HVAC, electrical, plumbing), diagnosing the problem and resolving it personally if within capability, or clearly defining the scope before engaging a service vendor
  • Conduct daily and weekly walkthroughs of the facility, actively checking for hazards, ensuring building aesthetics are maintained, and verifying all safety equipment (e.g., first aid kits, AEDs, fire extinguishers) are current and accessible
  • Assist the Metron Reston Office Manager in maintaining stocks of general office supplies and materials
  • Work closely with Security and IT departments to manage service vendors working on-site including physical escorting and visitor coordination
  • Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment up to 50 pounds independently, climb ladders and reach overhead for extended periods of time
  • Must have reliable transportation for local travel between sites, approximately 25% total travel
  • US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED
  • Successful candidates will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (SECRET level clearance).
  • 2+ years of demonstrated hands-on experience with building maintenance, light construction or facilities operations
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity with basic hand and power tools
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to follow-up and follow-through on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Self-starter with demonstrated initiative
  • Ability to organize time, manage diverse activities and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Apprenticeship, vocational or technical certification in building maintenance, commercial electrical circuits, HVAC or related trade strongly preferred
