About The Position

The Maintenance Controls Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining CNC equipment and all plant electrical control systems. This position provides technical support to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment and processes. The role requires strong technical knowledge in electrical systems, controls, and instrumentation, as well as a commitment to quality workmanship and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of related experience in an industrial maintenance environment, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in programmable logic controller (PLC) diagnostics and programming.
  • Experience in CNC machine control diagnostics; programming knowledge preferred.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC motors, drives, and conventional controls.
  • Familiarity with servo and spindle motors and drives, induction furnace controls, oven and burner controls, and industrial instrumentation systems.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Strong computer and software application skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.

  • CAD experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of plant safety policies and procedures ; perform all work in accordance with safety standards and assist others in understanding electrical safety requirements.
  • Understand and follow environmental policies and procedures as they relate to daily work.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and workmanship in all job duties.
  • Support the installation and startup of new manufacturing or support equipment, including specification and installation of electrical services, startup and adjustment, documentation compilation, and training of maintenance personnel.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, control, and instrumentation-related malfunctions in plant and production equipment.
  • Compile and maintain documentation for all electrical and controls systems, both new and existing.
  • Troubleshoot , repair, and maintain CNC and manual machine shop equipment, including electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
  • Program , troubleshoot, and correct malfunctions in PLC, CNC, HMI, and VFD systems.
  • Maintain backups of control software and parameter data in both electronic and paper form.
  • Develop and implement software changes to improve processes or equipment performance.
  • Specify hardware and/or develop software for new equipment applications.
  • Identify and assist in the implementation of improvement projects that enhance reliability, increase productivity, or reduce costs.
  • Evaluate and resolve reliability issues across plant systems and equipment.
  • Assist in developing preventive maintenance schedules and procedures using OEM and component documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor – Machine Shop.
