About The Position

Under the direction of the Facility Manager, responsible for the maintenance of the physical plant and grounds. Principal Functions and Responsibilities: Maintains buildings, grounds, equipment, water, plumbing, electricity, heating, cooling, refrigeration, and sanitation (including the safe disposal of all wastes in accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements). Responsible for completing assigned tasks in support of the preventive maintenance program for buildings and equipment. Performs a variety of duties to maintain the appearance and condition of hospital grounds and landscaping on a year-round basis. Operates snowplow, mower, leaf blower and other equipment as needed Keeps drainage ditches and culverts free of obstructions. Maintains driveways, parking lots and exterior signs Maintains flower beds, shrubs, trees and lawns Connects and maintains sprinkler equipment Inspects grounds to ensure safe conditions and makes recommendations for improvement Inspects and performs minor repairs to equipment. Participates in educational programs and in-services. In support of Materials Management Department, delivers supplies to other departments and places them in proper areas. In support of Housekeeping, assists with moving beds and arrangement of meeting room furniture for special functions. In support of Dietary, assists with heavy lifting and cleaning of air filters in the kitchen. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The employee will maintain positive and effective relations with co-workers, other departments, patients, and visitors. Shares equally in call rotation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational Training in trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, sheet metal, and air conditioning.
  • Prior Experience in maintenance.
  • One year as a Facility technician in an acute care subacute health facility.
