A Facilities Technician is a service professional responsible for performing maintenance tasks under the direction of Facilities Maintenance Management. The duties include ensuring the proper operation, safety, and efficiency of the hospital facilities, the physical plant, and related infrastructure. Responsibilities encompass performing minor electrical work, mechanical repairs, plumbing, operating machinery, conducting testing, and maintaining equipment as well as other maintenance related tasks. The compensation range for the role is $24.82 -$25.54 hourly (includes general maintenance compentency at hire). Please note, additional compensation will be determined based on demonstrated skills and competencies. The time required to achieve the necessary level of competency may vary by individual; any timelines provided are approximate. Relevant experience in the skills listed below will be recognized and compensated accordingly upon hire. Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent with training in trade or vocational school or combination of education and experience.
  • 2-years’ related experience in mechanical, maintenance or building trades. Trade School or vocational certificates considered in lieu of experience. On-the-job training offered.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License
  • Physical demands are representative of those that must be met to perform essential job functions: Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, balance, climb, taste smell, etc. Must have ability to lift and /or move up to 100 lbs. Specific vision ability’s: close and distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 100 lbs.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.
