About The Position

Syner-G is seeking a Facilities Technician III with 5–10 years of experience to provide dedicated, hands-on maintenance and certification support across critical R&D and GMP assets. This role supports uptime, regulatory compliance, and safe operation of essential equipment including biological safety cabinets (BSCs), liquid nitrogen systems, washers, dehydrogenation tunnels, glasswashers, vivarium equipment, and rack-wash systems. The Facilities Technician III performs advanced preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoots complex issues, and ensures reliable operation of both GMP and non-GMP systems. This position works with minimal supervision, supports a growing team, and collaborates closely with Facilities, EHS, Engineering, Laboratory Operations, and other partners.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; technical trade school certifications or equivalent experience considered.
  • Registered apprenticeship, trade license (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, pipefitting, wastewater, steam engineering, marine engineering), or similar technical training strongly preferred.
  • 5–10 years of experience in facilities maintenance, utilities support, or mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Strong technical proficiency in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, and building utilities.
  • Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex equipment and facility issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, loop diagrams, and P&IDs.
  • Familiarity with BMS and CMMS systems.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and work across various environments including laboratories, utility rooms, mechanical spaces, and vivarium areas.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GMP, cGMP biotech, pharmaceutical, or laboratory environments preferred.
  • Experience working with specialized laboratory or vivarium equipment strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized maintenance, troubleshooting, and recertification support for R&D and GMP assets including BSCs, liquid nitrogen systems, tunnel washers, dehydrogenation tunnels, glasswashers, vivarium equipment, and rack-wash systems.
  • Perform advanced preventive and corrective maintenance across mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, utility, safety, and building systems.
  • Receive, prioritize, and execute work orders to ensure timely and efficient response to facility and equipment needs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues involving HVAC systems, electrical distribution, mechanical utilities, environmental controls, process equipment, and related infrastructure.
  • Identify abnormal conditions, system risks, or equipment degradation and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Make repairs directly when possible and coordinate specialized vendors or contractors when needed.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while performing complex technical tasks requiring strong judgment and expertise.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation including work orders, equipment logs, certifications, calibration records, and inventory tracking.
  • Support calibration, reliability, and lifecycle management programs for critical R&D and GMP equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, facility, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance or mentoring to junior technicians as needed.
  • Collaborate with Facilities, Engineering, EHS, Laboratory Operations, Quality, and other partners to maintain consistent equipment performance and facility operations.
  • Recommend improvements, upgrades, or efficiency enhancements to improve system reliability, energy use, or operational performance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
