If you enjoy working outdoors, take pride in keeping landscapes healthy and beautiful, and want to make a real impact on the look and feel of campus, we’d love for you to consider joining our team! Under the general supervision of the Building and Grounds Supervisor, the Facilities Technician II is responsible for the care and routine preventive maintenance of campus lawn spaces. This role includes completing minor repairs on grounds equipment and supporting landscape construction projects, which may involve reading landscape plans or design instructions. The position also sets up and maintains temporary irrigation systems as needed throughout campus. Key responsibilities include turf fertilization, pest management, and accurate record‑keeping related to these applications. The role also covers lawn treatments such as herbicides, fertilizers, compost applications, and aeration for both campus and off-site locations. The Facilities Technician II helps establish new lawn areas through seeding and sodding and assists with mowing as needed. This position is essential to maintaining and watering campus lawn spaces—primarily with hose‑end sprinkler applications—and plays a critical role in winter snow removal on the UW–Madison campus. If you’re looking for a hands‑on role where you can grow your skills and help keep our campus beautiful year‑round, we encourage you to apply!
