About The Position

Our Facilities teammate plays a vital role in maintaining the overall appearance, functionality, and operational efficiency of our garden center. This is a dynamic, hands-on position that involves working outdoors and staying active throughout the day. Key responsibilities include operating equipment such as forklifts, restocking inventory, assisting with loading customer purchases, and moving products to support seasonal transitions. The role also involves general maintenance and handyman tasks, including painting, constructing display structures using power tools, and performing basic irrigation repairs. In addition, this position will coordinate service repairs from vendors (HVAC, Plumbing) as well as work with our internal construction teams on larger projects. In addition to operational duties, Facilities team members regularly interact with customers, providing assistance and ensuring a positive experience. This position requires strong teamwork, as individuals collaborate closely with managers to ensure products are properly organized and the facility is always well-maintained.

Requirements

Applicant must be able to lift 50 lbs
Applicant must be able to work outdoors for an extended period of time
Applicant must be able to work on their feet for an extended period of time
Applicant must be able to be certified for forklift usage and have company vehicle driving privileges
Ability to travel between stores
Experience for this role is not necessary, but a positive attitude and a willingness to learn are

Nice To Haves

Experience operating heavy equipment
Experience working a Point of Sale system
Experience in the landscaping industry

Responsibilities

Upholds Moana Nursery's strict safety policies
Shows up on time ready work
Completes thorough and accurate pre-trip safety checks on equipment
Communicates regularly with manager to ensure Preventative Maintenance is completed regularly
Answers customer questions about our products and services
Promptly responds to customer needs, requests for service or assistance
Communicates using radios to other Moana teammates
Drives courteously and defensively every day while on forklift and company vehicles
Carefully loads product into vehicles and unloads them safely for our customers
Lifts and moves heavy objects such as trees, bags of soil, fountains, pottery
Uses power tools and equipment for basic maintenance repairs and business needs.
Has the ability and willingness to interact with and provide exceptional customer service to our customers
