About The Position

Facilities Team Members are frontline staff for the overall maintenance and improvement of the physical grounds and buildings of Santa Barbara Christian Camp

Requirements

  • Godly, Christian character, integrity, and adaptability
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to work some weekends and odd hours, as needed.
  • Current driver's license
  • Agreement with Santa Barbara Christian Camp's mission, vision, values, and doctrinal statement, and compliance with the employee handbook
  • Ability to work outside in inclement/extreme weather conditions (hot and cold)
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Abilities sufficient to carry out the essential functions of the job, including good balance
  • Safety first mindset at all times
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to organize and maintain a clean work area
  • Ability to follow instructions, learn new skills, and accept guidance/supervision

Responsibilities

  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, and electrical.
  • Vehicle and facilities maintenance
  • Landscaping and groundskeeping
  • Safe operation of tractors, trucks, trailers, and other vehicles
  • Safe operation of various minor equipment and tools
  • Assisting other departments when facilities-related needs arise, i.e., moving furniture, ladder work, heavier lifting, etc.
  • Assisting with weather-related issues: snow removal, water damage, roofing issues, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor, including hospitality, kitchen, and recreation.
  • Grounds repairs, including mowing, weed whacking, raking, using mechanical blowers, tree removal and clean up, sprinkler system repairs, and in the rarest of circumstances, snow removal, etc.
  • Drywall repair, including hole patching, texturing, painting, caulking
  • Minor electrical, plumbing, or HVAC repairs
  • Minor Roof repairs
  • Minor carpentry work. This includes both rough and finish carpentry work
  • Minor repair on camp vehicles and equipment
  • Occasional use of heavy equipment such as tractors, excavators, snowplows, or dump trucks
  • Using mechanized tools and equipment
  • Using manual tools and equipment
  • Moving bunk beds, furniture, or other heavy items
  • Holding heavy items in place
  • Lifting and carrying materials and supplies, ladders, hoses, tools, equipment, boxes, bed frames, etc.
  • Walking and standing for long periods of time, walking backwards while carrying items
  • Working at heights above 20 feet on occasion
  • Leaning
