The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and preventative maintenance of all bakery production equipment and foodservice machinery across our main facility and retail locations. This role ensures that ovens, mixers, slicers, refrigeration units, dishwashers, and other bakery equipment remain safe, functional, and efficient. The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting skills, a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, and the flexibility to travel between sites to support urgent equipment needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training preferred.
  • Experience in equipment maintenance, preferably foodservice or commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and repair documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License (or ability to obtain one).

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in refrigeration (EPA), electrical, or related trades.
  • Experience with HACCP and GMP compliance.
  • Background in bakery or food manufacturing environments.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Maintenance & Repair Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on bakery and foodservice equipment (mixers, ovens, slicers, proofers, refrigeration units, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment malfunctions in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts replacements using a work order system.
  • Preventative Maintenance & Scheduling Develop and follow a preventative maintenance schedule to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with production and retail managers to plan service windows that reduce disruption to operations.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements in equipment performance and reliability.
  • Safety & Compliance Ensure all equipment is maintained in compliance with FDA, HACCP, GMP, and OSHA standards.
  • Follow proper lockout/tagout and food safety protocols when servicing equipment.
  • Support safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Cross-Location Support Travel to retail store locations to service equipment as required.
  • Respond to emergency service requests across multiple sites.
  • Collaborate with external service providers and contractors when specialized repairs are required.
  • Inventory & Parts Management Track and manage inventory of critical spare parts and tools.
  • Assist in sourcing and ordering replacement parts as needed.
  • Provide recommendations for equipment upgrades or replacements to maximize efficiency.
