Shift: Monday-Friday from 3pm-5pm (flexible but ending before 5pm) This role is perfect for someone looking for a couple of hours of work per day, and could be great for a highschooler after school. The primary purpose of the Facilities & Sustainability Assistant is to support the production and warehouse teams by managing recyclable materials and ensuring a clean, organized, and safe work environment. This role focuses on essential housekeeping and waste-diversion tasks, allowing specialized staff to focus on complex manufacturing and distribution activities.

Requirements

Candidates under 18 may perform all tasks except the active operation of the cardboard compactor.
Ability to arrive for a consistent daily shift ending at 5:00 PM.
Ability to be trained on and safely operate basic recycling machinery.
Ability to read, interpret and comprehend documents such as training instructions.
Basic level math skills.
Basic level computer skills.
Good written and verbal communication.
Attention to detail.
Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, reach and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Work is performed in a warehouse environment (heated only).
Temperature fluctuations with dock doors opening and closing.

Previous material handling or warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Foam Densification: Check daily for scrap foam and operate the Foam Densifier machine to grind and bond scrap into foam logs for recycling.
Waste Diversion: Collect trash bins and corrugated cages and transport to appropriate areas.
Corrugated Compacting: Load the cardboard compactor; if over 18, operate the machine to compress waste.
5S Compliance: Ensure materials and tools are returned to their proper locations to maintain organizational standards.
General Cleaning: Perform end-of-day cleaning tasks, including sweeping warehouse and production floors.
Waste Management: Empty trash cans throughout the facility and ensure docks (inside and outside) and common spaces are clear of debris.
Team Support: Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work area to support overall warehouse efficiency.
Ensure cleanliness and organization of work areas, racking, aisles, docks (inside and outside), break/locker areas, common spaces, and other housekeeping duties.
Continually look for ways to improve processes and systems to make them more efficient and effective.
Comply with quality and safety standards.
Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Regularly communicate with other internal departments regarding product information, customer requirements or vendor information.
May assist the production team in manufacturing custom packaging products, including machine operating (if over 18 years old) and assembly as needed.
