About The Position

The apprenticeship will develop the knowledge and skills in the non-technical maintenance of plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilating, and/or air conditioning equipment, and other related facilities trades at a level not requiring formal licensure but with direct supervision and instruction of a Facilities Support Technician I or above. Must be insurable by TriCores insurance carrier.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Driving required.
  • Must be insurable by TriCores insurance carrier.
  • Prove immunity to Hepatitis B or be immunized or sign a waiver refusing hepatitis immunization.
  • Provide documentation of a PPD test conducted not more than 90 days prior to date of hire or have a PPD test conducted.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Handle hazardous materials and wastes in accordance with safety procedures and regulations. Specific training requirements are documented in TriCores Waste Management Plan, SAF-011.
  • Participate in continuing education programs.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Valid NM Driver's license and must be insurable by lab insurance carrier.
  • Familiar with Windows operating systems: Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of maintenance practices is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with and learns to perform preventive maintenance on plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems and related components.
  • Assists with and learns to repair plumbing, electrical, mechanical and related systems.
  • Assists with and learns to repair and maintain facilities structures; to perform minor repairs to building plumbing, electrical systems, door hardware, fire, life and safety protection equipment/systems; to conduct structural inspections for safety.
  • Assists with and learns routine sheetrock/drywall installation and/or repair, cabinet and countertop replacement, painting and texturing, and door and hardware installation; paint interior and exterior finishes, as appropriate.
  • Perform general maintenance, custodial, and trash removal tasks.
  • Assists with and learns to document facilities maintenance requirements; maintain appropriate records of work performed.
  • Perform snow removal/ice melt as required.
  • Handle hazardous materials and wastes in accordance with safety procedures and regulations. Specific training requirements are documented in TriCores Waste Management Plan, SAF-011.
