About The Position

This is a temporary, hourly as needed position without permanent status. The position involves assisting with skilled maintenance work on campus under general supervision. The pool will be used to find applicants qualified in specific categories such as carpentry, electrical, HVAC, vehicle maintenance, plumbing, or other skilled trade work. Individuals employed in this position are expected to be at the journey-level in their respective class series and are responsible for assisting permanent classified staff in performing skilled trade work on campus to ensure that all facilities and equipment are maintained in a safe and effective working condition.

Requirements

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
• Three (3) years of experience in journeyman-level maintenance and repair work.
• Possession of and ability to maintain a valid California Driver's License.

• Experience equivalent to sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities generally associated with the type of work you are requesting to perform.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled work in the field in which you are qualified to work in.
• May be required to operate a variety of specialized equipment, including various hand and power tools; drive a vehicle to perform work.
• Inspects facilities/buildings/vehicles/equipment for damage and maintenance needs.
• Ensure the proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Records and maintains work and material records.
• Observes safe work methods and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required.
• Maintains work areas in a clean and orderly condition, including securing equipment at the close of the workday.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Benefits

• Hourly rate of $33.50-$41.00 per hour.
• Persons employed for temporary employment are not eligible to participate in the College's Health and Welfare plan or option fringe benefit plan.
