About The Position

The Facilities Support - Maintenance (Plumber) position is a temporary, hourly role under general supervision, responsible for performing skilled plumbing work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems and fixtures. The position requires compliance with building codes and ensures that all plumbing lines are maintained in a safe and sanitary working condition. The incumbent will work in various College buildings and facilities, performing tasks such as installing and repairing valves, pumps, toilets, water heaters, and other plumbing fixtures. This role may also involve assisting other trades as needed.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
  • Three (3) years of experience in journeyman-level plumbing maintenance and repair work.
  • Possession of and ability to maintain a valid California Driver's License.

  • Experience equivalent to sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities generally associated with the type of work.

Responsibilities

  • Performs skilled plumbing work in the alteration, installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing fixtures and systems.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs valves, pumps, toilets, water heaters, pipes, faucets, and various other fixtures.
  • Cleans out drains and removes obstructions from water and sewer systems.
  • Maintains backflow devices.
  • Estimates labor, material, and equipment needed for assigned projects.
  • Plans, organizes, and lays out assigned tasks.
  • Operates a variety of specialized equipment, including various hand and power tools.
  • Records and maintains work and material records.
  • Observes safe work methods and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment.
  • Maintains work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Provides needed information and demonstrations concerning how to perform certain work tasks to new employees.
  • Assists other District employees with various projects as necessary.

Benefits

  • Hourly rate of $33.50-$41.00 per hour.
  • No eligibility for the College's Health and Welfare plan or option fringe benefit plan.
