About The Position

The Facilities and Maintenance Department is looking for a passionate and self-motivated Facilities Support Associate to help create a welcoming and well-maintained campus environment. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring our facilities are clean, safe, and functional, supporting an optimal learning experience for our students. This is a full-time, non-exempt position, with a work schedule of 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in custodial and facility support tasks.
  • Knowledge of tools, materials, and equipment used in preventive and general maintenance, custodial duties, and grounds-keeping, along with familiarity with proper sanitation, maintenance, and safety protocols relevant to the role.
  • Reading comprehension skills are necessary for understanding safety data sheets, operating instructions, and equipment manuals.
  • The candidate should be able to follow written and oral instructions accurately and demonstrate a mature attitude with a reliable and dependable work ethic.
  • Communication skills are essential for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues.
  • Basic computer skills and a valid Tennessee driver's license with the ability to drive are also necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • A technical certificate or diploma and/or general building maintenance experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting classrooms, hallways, and common areas.
  • Ensure the proper sanitation of restrooms by cleaning, disinfecting, and restocking supplies as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness in dining areas and kitchens, including cleaning tables, chairs, and kitchen equipment.
  • Perform grounds-keeping duties, including pulling weeds, picking up trash, and maintaining landscaping areas.
  • Ensuring pathways and parking areas are free of hazards and debris.
  • Assisting in the setup and maintenance of outdoor events and activities.
  • Assist the maintenance department with minor repairs and tasks as needed.
  • Utilize appropriate hand and power tools for repairs, installations, and cleaning (e.g., waxing floors, facility modifications).
  • Provide logistical support for events, including setup, teardown, and furniture rearrangement.
  • Demonstrate initiative, keen attention to detail, and effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Lock and unlock buildings as required.
  • Clean and salt outdoor areas during inclement weather to ensure safety.
  • Travel to other campus locations as needed.
  • Undertake additional duties and special projects assigned to support students, programs, and the institution's mission.
