About The Position

It's More Than a Job, It's a Calling! Position: Facilities Supervisor Location: Advocate AMG Clinics; Oak Brook, IL. Full Time; 1st Shift ~Monday-Friday

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in HVAC or related field.
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in plant/facilities operation, mechanical and electrical engineering, and/or HVAC.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes/regulations pertaining to assigned equipment and operations.
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in electricity, plumbing, HVAC, steam fitting, soldering, carpentry, fabricating and groundskeeping.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, prioritization and time management skills.
  • None Required.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, twist, climb and reach above shoulders at various times throughout the workday.
  • Lifts, carries, and/or pushes/pulls various items (bags, boxes, carts, etc.) while utilizing proper technique.
  • Must be able to: lift up to 15 lbs from floor to overhead.
  • lift up to 50 lbs from floor to chest-level.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs at waist height at a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to: push/pull with 50lbs of force.
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures, weather conditions, and an atmosphere that may contain fumes, dust/dirt, and odors.
  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical and radiation hazards. Therefore protective clothing must be worn as necessary.
  • Position requires travel. May be exposed to road and weather hazards.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the day-to-day facilities operations of the planning, operation, repair, and maintenance of heating/cooling, power plant, electrical, emergency power, and fire protection systems as well as plumbing, grounds, and carpentry.
  • Oversees general department operations, establishes work schedules, issues daily work assignments and responds to requests for service.
  • Identifies and addresses all safety issues.
  • Identifies and recommends changes and improvements in the physical plant to be consistent with appropriate codes and authorities to ensure safe operation.
  • Acquires required permits and prepares reports required by state and local government and other regulatory agencies.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting agency standards and guidelines for facilities operations this includes accompanying authorities on inspecting building and utility systems.
  • Coordinates construction projects to include communicating scheduled utility interruptions, reviewing specifications and blueprint documents, inspecting quality of installations and repairs, and ensuring that contractual provisions and construction schedules are met and satisfy appropriate standards.
  • Identifies customer expectations and performance improvement opportunities by identifying and designing processes and services to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Develops and monitors preventative maintenance programs and provides recommendations regarding operational developments.
  • Coordinates programs to maintain buildings and equipment and to procure or generate all utilities and their distribution system.
  • Acts as a resource on more complex maintenance issues and provides technical support to architects, engineers, and consultants.
  • Provides direction to outside contractors on critical mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall staff morale.
  • Recommends hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the Aurora Health Care Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to Aurora's business.
