About The Position

The Facility Manager/Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, safety, and cleanliness of one Berkeley Charter Education Association (BCEA) campus. This position ensures the school’s facilities and grounds are well-maintained, secure, and conducive to a productive learning environment. Working under the direction of the Principal and Director of Facilities, the Facility Manager/Supervisor oversees custodial and maintenance staff, coordinates vendor services, and ensures compliance with all applicable safety and building codes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or trade certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in building or facilities maintenance, including supervisory or lead experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, ADA, and building safety regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or facilities management software (e.g., CMMS).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in K–12 school facilities or similar institutional environments.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 Certification.
  • Basic knowledge of South Carolina public school facility codes and regulations.
  • Trade certifications (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) or Facilities Management Professional (FMP) credential.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of all school buildings, grounds, and systems.
  • Develop and implement campus-specific preventive and routine maintenance schedules.
  • Supervise custodial and maintenance personnel; provide training, guidance, and performance feedback.
  • Conduct regular building inspections to ensure compliance with safety codes, ADA requirements, OSHA standards, and other regulations.
  • Monitor and maintain building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and security.
  • Coordinate and supervise contracted services including landscaping, pest control, janitorial, and repair vendors.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests, emergencies, and safety concerns.
  • Assist the Director of Facilities with budget tracking, cost estimates, and purchasing of materials and supplies.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
  • Support the Principal and school staff with facility needs for daily operations, special events, and extracurricular activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and emergency procedures; participate in school emergency response planning and drills.
  • Promote energy-efficient and environmentally responsible practices on campus.
