Requirements

  • This is a physically demanding position that often requires standing for extended periods of time, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, the ability to distinguish between colors, the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise, and the use of hand and power tools.
  • This position requires the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to welding helmets, hand shields, goggles, respirators, fire/flame resistant clothing and aprons, and gloves.
  • Additional PPE will be required for positions involving work in a clean room environment.
  • Has developed advanced specialized expertise within a analytical/scientific area to perform the most complex work
  • Has a good understanding of how related teams coordinate their efforts and resources to achieve objectives
  • May act as a lead for the team, may allocate work and provide subject matter guidance to more junior team members
  • Exercises judgment, based on previous experience, practices and precedents, to identify and solve problems that arise with little or no precedent
  • Impacts the effectiveness of own team and closely related team
  • Exchanges ideas and information effectively; uses tact and diplomacy when dealing with others

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and complex maintenance and installation activities without close supervision; working from verbal and/ or written instructions, blueprints and sketches.
  • Performs very complex maintenance activities under the general supervision of a Journey Facilities Specialist or supervisor
  • Operates common shop room tools, such as table saw, senstive drill press,and others.
  • Maintains assigned work area and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
  • Maintains security alarms, gas detection alarms and other systems with low voltage wiring.
  • Maintains logs, records, preventative maintenance schedules and other documents under some supervision.
  • Installs, maintains and repairs Company property, exercising complete knowledge of area of expertise.
  • Makes periodic inspections of plant equipment to prevent functional breakdowns.
  • Prepares verbal and/ or written instructions, sketches, etc.., for other maintenance employees to install or modify plan equipment.
  • Recommends perventative maintenance requirements.
  • Oversees contractor-supplied maintenance services, including janitorial, landscape, HVAC servicing and rubbish removal.
