As a Facilities Specialist III, you'll be a vital part of keeping our buildings running smoothly. From general repairs to preventive maintenance, your work will directly support the health, safety, and comfort of the people we serve and the staff who support them. Facilities Specialist III Duties: In this role, you'll complete a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks across agency facilities, ensuring all work meets applicable building codes and standards. Your responsibilities include performing general plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and structural repairs; maintaining proper temperatures and environmental conditions; assisting with renovations and system installations; and completing routine preventive maintenance on equipment. You'll troubleshoot electrical circuits, manage computer and telephone wiring, operate various tools and equipment, and provide technical support to other staff as needed. Seasonal responsibilities include snow and ice removal, maintaining de‑icing supplies, and alerting your supervisor when inventory runs low. You'll also complete required monthly preventive maintenance checks and handle equipment or materials weighing more than 45 pounds, all while following Agency policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic
  • At least 2 years of experience in building maintenance (or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems
  • Valid NYS Driver's License (acceptable to the Agency's insurance carrier)
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with supervisors and maintenance staff and complete projects efficiently.
