About The Position

The Facilities Specialist (FS) is responsible for conducting all maintenance and renovations across all JHC sites independently or in a team setting under the supervision of the Associate Director of Facilities.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or certification in HVAC, Plumbing or Electrical or other related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in facilities maintenance, heavy preference given to experience in clinical settings.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to perform routine facility maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to use computer systems and Internet.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and reliable insured transportation required.
  • Must have an acceptable driving record as demonstrated by recent printout by the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to employee requests for maintenance or repair work in a timely fashion, utilizing the maintenance ticketing system.
  • Documents all requests for work, work performed, and associated costs in an accurate manner.
  • Provides reports as needed regarding workflow and associated costs.
  • Provides direction and supervision for subcontractors hired on behalf of JHC.
  • Acts as liaison between JHC and cleaning staff, ensuring that buildings are appropriately cleaned, stocked, and maintained at all times.
  • Develops and implements routine maintenance schedules and routine facility inspections.
  • Creates and maintains ongoing documentation regarding facility condition, alerts leadership in advance of aging or wearing equipment or facilities that will require repair or replacement.
  • Coordinates with the Associate Director of Risk Management & Safety to ensure that facilities are maintained in a safe, OSHA-compliant manner.
  • Provides effective, clear communication to JHC employees regarding work that will interfere with regular workflow of the office.
  • Completes routine maintenance tasks such as furniture assembly, changing filters and light bulbs, or other routine tasks.
  • Completes a vehicle check at the beginning of each shift to ensure the vehicle is in proper, safe working order.
  • Maintains transportation log of mileage driven, and any applicable incidents while operating a vehicle.
  • Assistance with off-boarding, employee dismissal, and collection of JHC equipment.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies; reorders as needed.
  • Operates aerial lift for building inspections, cleaning, or parking lot light replacement.
  • Responds to alarms or other issues after hours.
  • Provides assistance as needed with safety and security issues. Participates in emergency preparedness planning team.
  • Physical attendance is an essential element of the job and necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.
