About The Position

This position will work Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for an estimated duration of two-three months. Following this period, the role will transition to a 12-hour 3-4-4-3 shift schedule, including weekends, working 5:30 a.m. -5:30 p.m. Under this schedule, employees work 3 days the first week and 4 days the next, repeating on a rotating basis. The Role and Responsibilities As a Facilities Services Custodian, your primary focus is ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and overall upkeep of the manufacturing facility. You play a crucial role in maintaining a clean and orderly environment, which is essential for the smooth operation of the facility. This role demands strong attention to detail, good physical stamina, and the ability to work independently while adhering to safety standards and protocols. Your Key Areas of Impact Cleaning and Maintenance: You are responsible for the daily cleaning and maintenance of the facility, including restrooms, break rooms, offices, production areas, and common spaces. This involves sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, emptying trash receptacles, and sanitizing surfaces to ensure a hygienic environment. Facility Upkeep: By performing routine inspections of the facilities, you identify and report maintenance needs such as repairs, leaks, or safety hazards. Your proactive approach helps maintain a safe and functional environment for all employees and visitors. Specialized Cleaning Tasks: You undertake specialized cleaning tasks as needed, such as deep cleaning of floors, carpet cleaning, window washing, and cleaning of production equipment. Your high-level of attention to detail ensures that all areas of the facility are thoroughly cleaned and maintained. Hazardous Materials and Bloodborne Pathogen Cleanup: You are trained to handle and dispose of hazardous materials safely, ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. This includes properly managing chemical spills, biohazardous waste, and industrial cleaning agents. Additionally, you follow strict protocols for cleaning and sanitizing areas exposed to bloodborne pathogens, such as bodily fluids, to prevent contamination and maintain a safe work environment. Your adherence to OSHA and facility-specific guidelines helps protect employees and visitors from potential health risks. Supplies Management: You monitor and manage cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring that all necessary materials are stocked and in good working condition. You communicate with the procurement team to reorder supplies as needed, maintaining an efficient inventory system. Waste Management: You manage the collection, sorting, and disposal of waste materials, including recycling and hazardous waste. Your commitment to proper waste management practices supports the facility’s environmental and safety standards. Support for Events and Projects: You provide custodial support for facility events and projects, including setting up and breaking down spaces for meetings, training sessions, and other activities. Your flexibility and responsiveness help ensure that events run smoothly. Adherence to Safety Standards: You strictly follow all safety rules and regulations, ensuring the proper use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and protective gear. Your commitment to safety protocols helps prevent accidents and injuries, maintaining a secure working environment. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and staying up to date with required training on hazardous material handling and biohazard cleanup procedures. Collaboration and Coordination: You coordinate with other departments and custodial staff to ensure comprehensive coverage and support for all areas of the facility. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills facilitate effective collaboration and teamwork. Documentation and Reporting: You maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, inspections, and maintenance needs. This includes completing checklists and reports to ensure compliance with facility standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a minimum of 2-5 years of custodial or janitorial experience, preferably in a large manufacturing facility.
  • You have demonstrated ability in hands-on cleaning and maintenance work, including knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and safety practices.
  • You work with a high level of integrity, organization, and time management.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications, including email and inventory management systems, is also required.
