About The Position

American Extrusion International operates both a Research & Development (R&D) facility and a manufacturing plant specializing in the extrusion of food-grade products (snack foods, cereals, etc.). We are committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and operational reliability across all facilities. This role is responsible for performing daily cleaning and sanitation duties in the R&D and production areas (approximately 70% in R&D, 30% in manufacturing), as well as supporting light maintenance, grounds care, and winter walk-way safety (salting, snow removal). The ideal candidate with be proactive, reliable, and able to work independently to maintain a safe, clean, and functional facility environment.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in cleaning, sanitation, janitorial, or facility maintenance is preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools.
  • Ability to lift up to ~50 lbs., stand, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Dependability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work in various facility areas (R&D lab setting, production, outdoors).
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • Basic Knowledge of safety regulations or food safety standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain all work areas in the R&D and manufacturing facilities according to food-safety and internal standards.
  • Ensure walkways, exits, and common areas are free of debris and hazards
  • During winter, monitor and maintain safe walking surfaces (salting, snow removal)
  • Assist with crate building and other workshop tasks as needed.
  • Perform light facility maintenance (e.g. changing light bulbs, repairing door hardware, minor plumbing/electrical fixes).
  • Maintain tool and cleaning supply inventories and order replacements as needed.
  • Report any safety, structural, or equipment concerns to the maintenance or operations manager.
  • Adhere to safety, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), and quality standards, and assist audits or inspections as needed.
