About The Position

The Facilities Safety and Compliance Specialist is responsible for identifying potential hazards and safety concerns at commercial and residential sites and ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and licensing requirements. Promoting a safe work environment, providing training on the proper use of equipment and keeping detailed reports and documentation are also key responsibilities. This position will report to the VP of Property Management and will be compensated on an hourly basis.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills to identify defects or hazards.
  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of safety management systems and experience with safety inspections and auditing techniques.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance and repair.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Technical proficiency with inspection tools, computers, smartphones, web-based applications and tablets.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and maintains a positive and professional demeanor while completing tasks.
  • Proficient in conducting safety and equipment training sessions.
  • Physical ability to perform inspections in various environments.
  • Basic understanding of first aid and emergency response procedures.
  • Flexibility in responding to changes in schedules and job priorities.
  • Must be 21+ years old, have a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, daily use of a car on site and be available by telephone for daily contact.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of all residential and commercial properties both interior and exterior to identify potential hazards, maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety standards and licensure requirements. Work with agency authorized vendors and or the Maintenance Supervisor to follow through on any identified safety issues or repairs.
  • Management of required inspections for each facility to include: scheduling inspections with appropriate vendors and Venture staff, ensuring proper physical documentation is maintained at each location and electronically and following through on any deficiencies or recommendations.
  • Maintenance of agency lift inventory to include scheduling needed repairs, coordinating annual inspections and ordering supplies.
  • Maintenance of AED machines to include regular inspections and replacement of batteries and pads.
  • Assist in developing and executing emergency procedures, such as fire drills.
  • Schedule and complete risk management inspections of agency properties and follow-up on any deficiencies or recommendations.
  • Establish and maintain agency Hazard Communication Program to include SDS plans for all facilities housed in properly labeled binders stored in appropriate areas at each location.
  • Maintain existing site safety technology such as water and fire prevention sensors and research and implement new technologies as appropriate.
  • Provide training to employees as needed or requested on safety practices, emergency procedures, and proper facilities equipment usage (generators, snow blowers, etc.) to foster a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; orders approved parts and supplies as needed through Agency authorized vendors.
  • Operates agency vehicle to travel to various sites and ensures any needed maintenance of vehicle is reported to the Transportation Director.
  • Must be available for emergency coverage on an as needed basis.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
