The Facilities Process Engineer II provides technical expertise and operational support for critical process systems, including solvent management, wastewater treatment, and RO/DI water systems, ensuring reliable performance and compliance with regulatory standards. The position involves troubleshooting mechanical and control components, assisting with facility design expansions, and collaborating on predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance to minimize production disruptions. The individual will promote a strong safety culture, maintain adherence to codes and standards, and contribute to continuous improvement through SOP development, staff training, and cross-functional coordination with vendors and engineering teams. Works independently on routine assignments and impacts projects within the functional area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or related engineering field.
  • 2+ years of experience working as a Process or Chemical Engineer at a manufacturing facility, refinery or chemical plant.
  • Skills and experience necessary to satisfy the required “Essential Duties”.
  • Knowledge of and comfort with Microsoft Office Suite software including Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong technical leadership with excellent organizational and verbal skills
  • Being approachable. Must be comfortable communicating/troubleshooting with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability and proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and presenting technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • The ability to respond effectively, verbally, and in writing to sensitive issues, complex inquiries, or complaints.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including patience in overcoming communication challenges while resolving technical issues with team members who may have different cultural and lingual backgrounds.
  • Strong team building skills and willing to learn from and accept guidance from others.
  • Able to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment, effectively prioritize work, and deliver quality results.

Nice To Haves

  • 4+ years of experience working as a Process or Chemical Engineer at a manufacturing facility, refinery or chemical plant.
  • Experience supporting or reviewing the installation of MEP equipment on construction projects, especially within manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
  • Experience with managing multi-discipline projects.
  • Experience with developing standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Experience working with systems that serve clean room/dry room environments.
  • Basic understanding of control Proportional Integrative Derivative (PID) loop tuning.

Responsibilities

  • Develop into subject matter expert for assigned process systems, supporting equipment installation, commissioning, and startup until full production efficiency is achieved
  • Support and troubleshoot solvent storage, distribution, and recovery, wastewater treatment, and RO DI water to ensure continuous and reliable operation
  • Troubleshoot system components such as pumps, sensors, piping, valves, and heat exchangers while monitoring performance, quality control, and chemical and material management
  • Assist with facility design expansion projects, controls implementation, and sensor and device placement to align with standards
  • Assist and support predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance efforts while minimizing production disruption
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives through documentation updates and system support
  • Assist in and periodically lead the training of facilities staff on systems, procedures, and safety
  • Support knowledge transfer through documentation and hands-on training
  • Coordinate with vendors, engineers, and cross-site teams to share best practices and improve supplier performance
  • Collaborate with engineering and facilities teams during expansions and system improvements
  • Ensure adherence to facility codes, standards, and regulatory requirements for operations and design expansions
  • Assist in the development, review, and update of SOPs and other operational documentation
  • Promote a strong safety culture by enforcing procedures, using protective equipment, and responding to emergency situations
