Job Overview Under minimal supervision, the Facilities O&M Systems Engineer provides on-site management, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Facilities, Systems, Equipment, and Utilities (FSEU). Create scope and oversee the preventative maintenance of facilities assets as well as supporting corrective maintenance activities. This position is located at Michoud Assembly Facility New Orleans, Louisiana. Work Model: Onsite

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four or more years of facilities engineering experience.
  • Experience working with company facilities and equipment.
  • Experience working with federal and company facility engineering guidelines.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
  • Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
  • Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
  • Must have, and maintain, a valid Real ID driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment background check and drug screen test.

  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.

  • Ability to operate and service various rotating equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities or related field preferred.
  • Prior knowledge of NASA site, experienced with working on government installations preferred.
  • Technical knowledge across multiple disciplines to include electrical, electronic, mechanical, and controls systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Supports maintenance project objectives, installation schedules, and purchase requirements necessary to complete assigned tasks and projects.
  • Provides technical assistance and engineering support on maintenance projects; interfacing with other departments to resolve issues that occur.
  • Provides technical assistance and back-up support to other engineers within the group as well as outside organizations as required.
  • Monitors maintenance and construction projects for adherence to budget, and recommends variances as necessary.
  • Creates and revises preventative and corrective maintenance instructions, technical documents, specifications, and Scopes of Work.
  • Oversees contractors in the performance of their contractual obligations; ensuring specifications and budgets are satisfactorily met.
  • Develops and implements maintenance methods and procedures to improve maintenance efficiency.
  • Maintains authoritative knowledge of applicable systems across all facilities, being familiar with the system's drawings, configuration, and operation.
  • Monitors systems and equipment performance and recommends actions to resolve operational deficiencies, improve performance, increase reliability, and improve energy efficiency.
  • May be involved in the smaller scoped negotiation and maintenance of contractor and vendor agreements and contracts that define quality, delivery schedules, pricing, and other terms and conditions to protect company costs.
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide support to all aspects of preventative and corrective maintenance related to assigned systems and equipment. Analyzes new and existing installations and proposes modifications or reconfigurations as necessary.
  • Develops SOW’s, plans and oversees the installation and maintenance of systems and equipment.
  • Reads and reviews one-line diagrams, distribution diagrams, and schematic diagrams for troubleshooting and maintenance purposes.
  • Plans outages related to scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Selects appropriate components based upon reliability, performance and availability.
  • Conducts validation, verification and qualification testing.
  • All other duties as assigned.
