This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, engineers, you will be responsible for implementing and performing preventive and corrective maintenance requests required to support a rocket manufacturing, testing and launch facility. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of industrial maintenance with emphasis on specific trade area(s) of facilities building systems. We are seeking a Facilities Associate Technician to join our facilities Operations team located in Van Horn, Texas. Primary job responsibilities include maintaining safe and operational facilities for our internal and external stakeholders, including maintenance and repairs of the facilities, space management and directly supporting the facilities operations during testing and launches.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance and operations
  • 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment
  • 2 years of experience in a role that requires the use of IBM Maximo software suite
  • 2 years of experience using the following Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

  • Background Check Required for all positions: Blue’s Standard Background Check
  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if at any time the role requires one to be on a military installation
  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical

Responsibilities

  • Respond to facilities requests promptly using the maintenance and operations work order system; work orders are accurately inputted, scheduled, closed, and tracked with communication to the requestor
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with facilities staff, without direct supervision on some assigned projects
  • Assists in making recommendations and implementing improvements
  • Move and arrange furniture and equipment; set up facilities for special events, testing and launches
  • Supports and coordinates the processing of routine requests to meet customer needs
  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting assistance for various facilities systems or processes
