About The Position

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Facilities Mechanical Engineer located in Austin, TX. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Mechanical Engineer is responsible for managing mechanical systems and facility infrastructure projects that support factory operations at the Austin manufacturing campus, using technical knowledge of utilities and infrastructure capabilities to support our diverse suite of customers and ensure strategic goals are realized.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in facilities or building systems design
  • Prior industry experience with CAD design software
  • Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Solid potential as a candidate interested to develop, learn, and grow with the organization

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 5 to 10 years of experience in a manufacturing facility environment as a Facilities or Mechanical Engineer
  • Proficiency in CAD design, specifically 2-D modeling of facilities infrastructure and process floor layouts
  • Experience with MS Project or Smartsheet
  • Demonstrated technical and leadership experience
  • Experience with prioritizing multiple simultaneous projects competing for shared resources

Responsibilities

  • Support facility maintenance operations & manufacturing transformation teams through engineering analysis of site utilities HVAC & mechanical infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of site mechanical utility capabilities; develop detailed CAD schematics of piping distribution across the factory and record cumulative usage via comprehensive equipment matrix to validate overall capacity vs requirements.
  • Evaluate new manufacturing installations against existing capacity & infrastructure; perform computational analysis on piping distribution, sizing & system capacity to identify and address any potential gaps in utilities & distribution services.
  • Interface with mechanical & architectural trades to create project budgets and timelines for utility infrastructure upgrades, providing engineering evaluation for change orders as needed during installation.
  • Determine best practices & standards for distribution system architecture and presentation of utility connections to equipment at the floor level; evaluate installations for quality & adherence to said standards.
  • Support utility systems maintenance activities by providing recommendations, identification of failure modes, root cause analysis, testing, improvements to maintenance procedures, and other engineering evaluations.
