Facilities Mechanic III

About the position

University of Iowa Health Care department of Engineering Services is seeking a Facilities Mechanic III. This position will be full-time with a primary schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday including weekends and holidays as scheduled for on-call. The role involves performing skilled and semi-skilled work in the repairing, servicing, and maintaining of buildings and electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the repairing, servicing, and maintaining of buildings and electrical, mechanical and plumbing equipment.
• Inspects, maintains and makes operating repairs on electrical equipment and wiring, plumbing fixtures and pipe, heating, air conditioning and ventilating equipment.
• Repair and maintain plumbing and fixtures (faucets, toilets, showers, sinks, drains and drain lines), plaster traps, grease traps, maintain centrifugal pumps and associated equipment.
• Repair and maintain autoclave, sterilizing and related equipment.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all equipment.
• Repair and maintain water heaters and water supply.
• Additional duties as required.

Requirements

• Must possess a basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment.
• Must have four years of work experience in the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training. At least two years of that experience must be in the same craft.
