City of Hope is seeking an experienced HVAC Facilities Mechanic with background in healthcare, commercial, and/or industrial settings. The facilities department ensures systems are running smoothly to take care of our patients and staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required. 4 additional years of experience plus the minimum experience requirement may substitute for minimum education (College or Trade school preferred).
  • 5 or more years applicable crafts experience. At least 2 years experience in HVAC, electrical, autoclave, locksmith, plumbing, advanced carpentry, or advanced painting trades.
  • Certification or demonstrated proficiency in 3 or more trades. At least one trade must include HVAC, electrical, autoclave, plumbing, locksmith, advanced carpentry, advanced painting. Other eligible trades include carpentry, painting, Maintenance Repair Rounds (MR.R) or automotive mechanics.
  • Trade certification preferred.
  • Excellent communications skills in working with clinical staff, leaders, and vendors.
  • Current CA driver's license and a good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform complex repairs on HVAC systems and related components.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC issues that impact patient care areas, prioritizing critical services.
  • Perform diagnostics and advanced repairs on Air-handlers, Package units, VFDs, and BMS-controlled equipment.
  • Respond to service requests and work orders for patient care areas, labs, and support departments.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on building HVAC systems & components.
  • Document work in the CMMS/Nuvolo system, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Balance and calibrate airflow, hydronic, and pressurization systems to meet patient care requirements.
  • Manage critical environments (ORs, isolation rooms, pharmacies under USP 797/800).
  • Experienced with troubleshooting BMS controls (Siemens, Climatec, Trane, etc.).
  • Oversee vendor-performed maintenance on large scale air-handlers, fan walls, mini splits, package units.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for HVAC systems (temperature, humidity, pressurization logs).
