The Facilities Manager leads teams and operations, maintaining and developing Camp Korey facilities, equipment, and grounds. The Facilities Manager pursues, develops, and supports overall site development and management and a professional work environment.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in the construction industry or facilities maintenance, including demonstrated knowledge in: handiwork, electrical, heating and cooling, plumbing, carpentry, painting, landscaping, groundskeeping, water, septic, pool maintenance, and general contracting.
  • Personnel management and leadership experience.
  • Fluent computer skills including project management and/or work planning (ticketing) software.
  • Demonstrable ability to handle several projects simultaneously.
  • Experience leading a team in the key principles of time management, task allocation, priority assignment, and accountability, in addition to personal organization.
  • Strong communication skills demonstrating professionalism, courtesy, tact, compassion, and sound judgment, including distilling and presenting complex concepts into a form easily understood by non-experts.
  • Ability to develop effective work plans, organize details, set priorities, and meet deadlines with a consistent commitment to follow through.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, decision-making, and strategic planning skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office Suite.
  • Ability to effectively track, monitor, analyze, and use data to tell a story.
  • Valid driver's license with access to reliable transportation; ability to meet Camp Korey insurance requirements and appropriately operate Camp Korey vehicles in accordance with policy.
  • To ensure a safe and healthy environment for our campers, staff, and volunteers, applicants must provide immunization history, authorize a background check, and complete a drug screen test.

  • Certification in two or more industry trades.
  • Experience working in multi-facility programs requiring self-management of schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a physical presence, build relationships and trust with employees across programs and at all levels of the organization, serving as a trusted and dependable leader.
  • Lead and develop staff, encourage a collaborative and kind working environment, and support change and growth opportunities.
  • Solicitation, hiring, and performance management of staff.
  • Develop and maintain a facility, equipment and grounds management strategy; monitor, adjust and regularly evaluate to maintain goals.
  • Plan and schedule all ongoing maintenance activities; creating standardized timelines and costs.
  • Manage core camp infrastructure, including power, water, phone systems, security access, and other factors.
  • Manage facility and maintenance projects, including securing cost estimates, obtaining necessary permits and approvals for work.
  • Supervise and advise contractors, vendors or other licensed providers for necessary services; ensure services are performed according to contract and regulation.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local businesses and community members; partner with the Development team to secure in-kind donations, discounted services, and cost-saving opportunities that support facility operations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records; track funding, project needs, and allocate funds responsibly and effectively.
  • Implement requirements ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, local regulations, contracts, SeriousFun, American Camp Association and other accreditations needed.
  • Direct Camp Korey's facility planning and budgeting processes, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and fiscal integrity; develop and manage in collaboration with the CEO.
  • Develop and implement an annual business plan, strategic plan, and budget to include strategies to increase productivity and efficiency and promote Camp Korey workplace culture.
  • In collaboration with the Leadership Team, regularly audit and evaluate camp legal responsibilities, risk management, protocols and procedures, and update associated manuals accordingly.
  • Assure the development and feasibility of program materials (emergency manual, medical manual, food plan, Camp to You plan, program plan, policies and procedures, applications, etc).
  • Work with the Volunteer Manager to develop and manage a robust volunteer team, including single events and ongoing projects and tasks.
  • Provide input and guidance on the capital facilities plan.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with insurance, fire, sheriff, county and other agencies with jurisdiction over the property, to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Interpret specifications and policies and enforce safety regulations with team members and subcontractors.
  • Manage and evaluate an electronic tracking system that documents scheduled maintenance, work orders, deficiencies, and time taken to complete work.
  • Establish procedures for handling emergency maintenance problems at all times including weekends, holidays and after-hours.
  • Facilitate and document the Facility Committee meetings.
  • Attend board meetings and fundraising events as needed.
  • Perform other reasonable duties from time to time, as assigned.
