About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and operational efficiency of Grimaldi’s restaurants across the West Coast region. The Facilities Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing systems are fully operational and meet the necessary safety, health, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in maintaining and troubleshooting these systems, as well as a thorough understanding of state and federal health codes and safety regulations. Frequent travel is required to manage equipment installations and conduct routine inspections as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in facilities management, maintenance, or a similar role overseeing multiple locations.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal health codes, safety standards, and building regulations specific to the restaurant or hospitality industry.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills related to equipment and building maintenance.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and locations simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with computerized facility management and work order software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with restaurant staff, vendors, and contractors.
  • Ability to manage budgets, negotiate with vendors, and optimize maintenance costs.
  • Must be willing to travel frequently to inspect and oversee maintenance projects across restaurant locations.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree or certification in facilities management, HVAC, electrical, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • OSHA certification or similar safety certifications are a plus.
  • EPA certification for HVAC refrigerant handling is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Manage contractor performed maintenance, repair, and servicing of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing systems across regional restaurants.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Oversee and coordinate repairs by external vendors when necessary, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to the department budget.
  • Provide support and guidance to restaurant managers and staff regarding maintenance and facility issues.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests and coordinate timely responses to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal health codes, safety regulations, and fire codes at all restaurant locations.
  • Review regular inspections to identify hazards and potential maintenance issues, taking corrective action as needed.
  • Stay current with changes in local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, making sure all facilities are compliant.
  • Supervise and coordinate new equipment installations, including HVAC systems, refrigeration units, and electrical/plumbing fixtures.
  • Manage the timeline and budget for equipment installations, repairs, and upgrades.
  • Ensure that all installations meet safety standards and operational requirements.
  • Regularly travel to restaurant locations to conduct inspections, repairs, and installations as needed.
  • Provide support and guidance to restaurant managers and staff regarding maintenance and facility issues.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests and coordinate timely responses to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external contractors, suppliers, and service providers for routine and emergency maintenance needs.
  • Evaluate and select vendors based on quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee and ensure vendor compliance with safety, operational, and service standards.
  • Assist in the development and management of the maintenance budget for all facilities, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or safety.
  • Track and report on maintenance expenses, providing regular updates to senior management.
  • Develop long-term capital expenditure plans for equipment replacement and facility upgrades.
