About The Position

The Part-Time Facilities Maintenance Technician assists with minor general maintenance and repairs on the facility and its equipment as directed. This position ensures proper and timely completion of theatre and ballroom event setup.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Must have excellent communication skills;
  • Must have experience in multi-tasking;
  • Must have basic facility maintenance skills including 2 or more of the following trades: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, HVAC, and janitorial procedures;
  • Must have general computer proficiency skills including word processing, e-mail, and Internet navigation;
  • Must have knowledge of workplace safety procedures;
  • Regular periods during which there is continuous physical exertion required;
  • Must be able to frequently traverse the building including moving between multiple floors and ascending/descending stairs;
  • Must be able to ascend/descend a ladder;
  • Must be able to lift materials or equipment up to 50 pounds and be capable of moving/pulling/pushing up to 100 pounds with assistance if necessary.
  • Must be able to work extended or irregular hours including frequent evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed;
  • Successful applicants must be able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check.

Nice To Haves

  • The ability to successfully interface with guests, vendors, and contractors is preferred;
  • Ability to operate power tools, motor vehicles (including forklift, genie lift, etc.), and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment is preferred;
  • Demonstrated organizational skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor general maintenance on the building and its fixtures including seating, lighting, minor construction, painting, etc as assigned in the work order system, in a timely and accurate manner, and log all activity in the work order management system.
  • Complete timely and accurate ballroom and theatre event setups according to event floor plans and diagrams, including tables/chairs, dance floors, bars, furniture, or other equipment as needed.
  • Load, unload, and move furniture, equipment, fixtures, deliveries, and other items as needed. Receive and deliver deliveries as needed. Respond to inbound requests for admin or event support like equipment troubleshooting, ladder needs, light bulb changes, etc.
  • Other duties as directed.
