About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for helping maintain the Agency’s campus buildings, offsite locations, equipment, and grounds in safe, clean, and good working condition. This hands-on role performs routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance tasks across multiple sites. The Facilities Maintenance Technician responds to work orders, assists with emergencies, supports vendors and contractors when needed, and helps ensure all facilities operate efficiently and safely. This position requires flexibility, reliability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Working knowledge of general maintenance practices including plumbing, carpentry, painting, minor electrical, and building repairs.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or a related trade preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC systems and preventative maintenance preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with work order systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Complete work orders related to plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, lighting, HVAC support, locks, doors, flooring, and general repairs.
  • Troubleshoot maintenance issues and determine appropriate corrective action.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance programs for building systems and equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, tools, and equipment to identify safety hazards or maintenance concerns.
  • Promptly report unsafe conditions and assist in correcting hazards.
  • Support fire safety readiness by ensuring exits, signage, alarms, and related areas remain clear and functional.
  • Follow all safety procedures, OSHA standards, and agency policies.
  • Assist with upkeep of grounds, walkways, parking areas, fencing, and outdoor spaces.
  • Support seasonal operations including snow removal, salting, storm preparation, and weather-related cleanup.
  • Set up and break down rooms, furniture, and equipment for meetings, trainings, and events.
  • Travel to agency offsite facilities as needed to complete repairs, inspections, deliveries, or maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure offsite locations are maintained to the same safety and quality standards as the main campus.
  • Use computerized work order systems to receive, update, and close service requests.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies in organized working condition.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, residents, vendors, and supervisors.
  • Assist contractors and vendors working onsite as directed.
  • Participate in emergency response efforts and after-hours support as needed.
