About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will perform duties directly under the Supervision of the Dean of Operations. The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping education facilities, equipment, furnishings clean and organized. Responsibilities include ensuring the common indoor and outdoor areas, offices, and classrooms are clean, and maintaining the cleaning equipment to ensure everything needed for cleaning the school is stocked and ready. Other responsibilities include common repairs, troubleshooting and problem solving.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance management software and tools.

  • Lifting and Carrying: Capacity to lift and carry materials, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, possibly more with assistance.
  • Manual Dexterity: Skill in using hand and power tools, operating equipment, and performing tasks that require fine motor control.
  • Physical Stamina: Endurance to perform physical tasks for extended periods, including standing, bending, and reaching.
  • Balance and Coordination: Skill in maintaining balance while climbing ladders or working at heights.
  • Environmental Tolerance: Comfort working in various environmental conditions, such as outdoors in different weather or indoors in areas with dust, noise, or chemicals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance of custodial equipment, supplies, and any other facilities needs. Sometimes perform this maintenance alongside a contractor or other vendor, and/or know when it is necessary to contact an outside contractor to repair or replace the equipment or item.
  • Ensure facilities equipment is working properly, reporting any malfunctions to the Dean of Operations.
  • Perform light maintenance and repairs such as plumbing, painting, bathroom repair, wall repair, mechanical repair.
  • Overlook tools and equipment, ensure it is properly utilized, checked out and returned
  • Report needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Dean of Operations.
