Great Lakes Energy is looking for a facilities maintenance technician to manage routine inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs for our equipment and facilities. Help us maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment! For over 85 years, Great Lakes Energy has powered rural communities across 26 counties in western and northern Michigan. As the third-largest Michigan-based electric utility and the state's largest member-owned power company, we serve over 128,000 meters with pride. Beyond delivering reliable electricity, we are leaders in advanced fiber technology through Truestream, our communication solutions subsidiary. At Great Lakes Energy, we prioritize enriching the lives of our community members and employees. With over 300 team members, we're more than just colleagues-we're a close-knit family, united by a shared vision of growth, innovation, and community service. As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you play a key role in keeping our buildings and grounds safe, functional, and well maintained. This is a floater position, supporting multiple locations throughout our southern service region (Reed City, Hart, Scottville, Wayland, Newaygo). No two days look exactly the same-you'll travel between sites as required, providing hands-on support wherever needed. You'll handle a range of tasks, from conducting routine inspections and performing minor repairs on equipment like generators and HVAC systems, to maintaining clean and safe spaces inside and out. Your days will involve everything from changing air filters and inspecting fire extinguishers to responding to facility alarms and ensuring everything is documented in our maintenance software. When unexpected issues arise at any location, you'll be ready to step in and tackle them, keeping our operations running smoothly. Beyond technical work, you'll support our teams with event setups, basic custodial tasks, and making recommendations for facility improvements across sites. Your attention to detail, flexibility, and ability to juggle varied responsibilities in different environments will help maintain a comfortable and efficient experience for everyone. If you're a hands-on problem-solver who enjoys variety, travel, and making an impact wherever you go, this role is a great fit for you. You thrive in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same, enjoying hands-on work and taking pride in keeping facilities in top shape. Organization is your strength, and you make sure every task is completed with precision, whether it's maintaining equipment, documenting maintenance, or handling unexpected issues. Teamwork comes naturally to you, and you're always ready to jump in and lend a hand when needed.
