The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance of building systems across a multi-building campus environment. This position requires strong technical competency, independent problem-solving ability, professional conduct, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship. The ideal candidate demonstrates mechanical aptitude, urgency, ownership of assigned tasks, and the ability to complete work efficiently without constant supervision. The Maintenance Technician is a skilled position and is a key associate in providing outstanding maintenance and repair services in an efficient and effective manner. This role may also be asked to assist with or direct Vocational Trainees, as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 2 years of maintenance or related trade experience
  • Demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools safely.
  • Basic understanding of building systems.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrates working knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC components, drywall, carpentry, doors/hardware, and general building systems.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect facilities and equipment to identify repair and maintenance needs.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, structural, and building system issues.
  • Perform general repairs including but not limited to:
  • Plumbing fixture repair and replacement
  • Basic electrical repairs (switches, outlets, lighting)
  • Drywall repair and painting
  • Door and hardware repair
  • Minor HVAC component servicing
  • Carpentry and framing repairs
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled.
  • Accurately document completed work orders.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and safe conditions.
  • Order and track materials necessary for repair completion.
  • Assist with campus projects and improvement initiatives.
  • Respond to maintenance emergencies as required.
  • Collaborates effectively with the Vocational Training team and works with vocational trainees to ensure acceptable quality of work, as applicable.
  • Collaborates with Director of Facilities to maintain budget and properly steward resources
  • Ability to effectively assess assigned service request jobs and determine the appropriate steps necessary to resolve them
  • Properly and efficiently completes all assigned service requests
  • Attends all required SRM meetings and reviews SRM emails regularly
  • Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
  • In this role, you may be required to drive on behalf of Springs Rescue Mission utilizing SRM company vehicle and/or your personal vehicle. In accordance with that, a valid driver’s license, current proof of insurance and/or clean driving record for a minimum of 3 years is required. To ensure the safety of our employees and compliance with state and federal law, SRM utilizes ongoing Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoring where MVR reports may be run randomly to ensure you have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record if utilized as driver.
