About The Position

The Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician, Carpenter (Full-Time) to join our team. This role combines hands-on carpentry with general facility maintenance in a fast-paced environment dedicated to caring for both guests and animals. In this role, you will apply your craft to maintain, repair, and enhance our facilities. From building and remodeling structures to installing fixtures and performing precision repairs, your work ensures that our zoo remains safe, functional, and visually engaging for visitors and staff alike. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of carpentry experience in a similar role.
  • Proficient in rough and finish carpentry and other areas of residential construction/remodeling.
  • Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.).
  • In-depth understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
  • A valid driver’s license and clear driving record to operate organizational vehicles.
  • Availability to accommodate a flexible schedule, including extended hours, holidays, and weekends.
  • Ability to work a schedule Sunday- Thursday (7:30 AM- 4:30 PM) with flexibility as operational needs arise.
  • Ability to work a schedule that includes a Saturday or Sunday.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of a 8 hour shift, including working outdoors in Florida weather, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in apartment, building, or multi-unit maintenance.
