About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Technician at Emerald Coast Utilities Authority (ECUA) is responsible for performing skilled maintenance and repair work across various mechanical systems and facilities. This role requires a solid understanding of multiple trades, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, to ensure the proper functioning and safety of facilities. The technician will generate and manage work orders, conduct inspections, perform repairs, and maintain equipment, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of experience performing a variety of facilities maintenance work.
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience performing specialized maintenance work under the instruction/direction of a skilled/journey-level person.
  • Plumbing experience preferred; HVAC experience preferred.
  • Possession of a valid Driver License.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced technical or vocational training in the specialty area is preferred.
  • Certification or license in a specialty area may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Generate work orders using computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and receive work orders.
  • Review work orders/requests to determine tool, equipment, time, manpower, parts, and supplies requirements.
  • Estimate cost and man-hour requirements; requisition and/or purchase supplies and materials.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Inspect buildings, equipment, and systems to identify needed repairs; test machinery and equipment for proper operations.
  • Perform skilled repair functions such as electrical and mechanical repairs, plumbing, and painting.
  • Perform various manual work functions associated with building/equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain various activity records and logs.
  • Observe equipment or machinery while in operation to detect malfunctions.
  • Disassemble mechanical equipment, identify faulty/worn parts, replace, reassemble, and test.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on various mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Install new equipment/appliances including running any electrical, water, gas, or drain lines required.
  • Read/interprets blueprints and construction drawings.
  • Perform various carpentry work, such as the construction and erection of frame walls and floors.
  • Communicate with supervisor, employees, ECUA departments, contractors, and the public to coordinate work activities.
  • Maintain inventory of department equipment, tools, and supplies.
