About The Position

Based in Brockton, MA and reporting to the Sr. Maintenance Manager, you’ll serve as the go-to Facilities Maintenance Lead for our USDA food production site. Picture your day: you arrive to verify that lines are ready before shift start, coordinate priorities with Production, Sanitation, and Logistics, then dive into solving equipment issues—from high-speed wrapping and cartoning to conveyors and checkweighers. In the Maintenance Supervisor’s absence, you organize work, set priorities, and keep the facility safe, compliant, and running smoothly.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; strong reading, writing, and basic math.
  • 5+ years in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance within USDA or FDA-regulated food manufacturing.
  • Self-starter who thrives with minimal supervision; dependable and quality-focused.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Technical strengths Motor replacement, repair, and preventive maintenance.
  • Inspection and maintenance best practices to maximize uptime.
  • Hands-on maintenance and repair across diverse equipment.
  • Familiarity with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) for basic programming and troubleshooting.
  • Willing to support a 24/7 operation with shift flexibility.
  • Comfortable standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending and squatting.
  • Able to traverse the facility and lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Safe, proper use of hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with maintenance leadership, sanitation, production, and logistics to remedy facility issues (lighting, plumbing, and electrical throughout the plant).
  • Champion safety across departments; uphold programs such as lockout/tagout and ladder safety.
  • Train team members on lift operation, safe welding practices, and core maintenance methods; coach wastewater technicians and provide vacation coverage for week-long+ absences.
  • Oversee contractors on-site; assist with contractor scheduling and planned work.
  • Plan and schedule preventive maintenance; issue and manage work orders; ensure machines, tools, and systems are production-ready.
  • Respond rapidly to downtime events; troubleshoot using electrical control schematics and perform minor PLC programming/troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose and repair 110/230/460V systems: motors, starters, relays, timers, panels, breakers, conduit, and wiring.
  • Set up, troubleshoot, and repair packaging systems: high-speed wrappers, checkweighers, cartoners, case packers, UPC barcoding equipment, box formers/erectors, and conveyors.
  • Fabricate parts and modify equipment; dismantle and reassemble assets for cleaning, lubrication, and scheduled maintenance.
  • Maintain facilities to city and fire codes; protect employees and visitors by keeping areas clean and safe.
  • Communicate clearly across maintenance and operations; take direction, prioritize effectively, and pitch in on other tasks as needed.
