About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operation of all City of Mankato facilities. This role involves assessing physical needs, developing capital plans, and supervising maintenance staff. The supervisor will ensure high-quality service delivery, manage maintenance contracts, and coordinate various maintenance activities across city facilities.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, business administration, or related field.
  • Five years of direct work experience with building trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and heating systems.
  • Three years of experience supervising one or more employees.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive in the State of Minnesota.
  • Ability to obtain a State of MN Specials Boiler Operator License within six months of employment.
  • Ability to obtain Certified Pool Operator certification within twelve months of employment.
  • Ability to obtain a Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry Class '2C' Boiler Operator License within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess physical needs of all City of Mankato facilities and participate in capital fund planning and administration.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, supervise, and conduct preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance and repairs on city facilities.
  • Provide elevated customer service to all tenants of Facilities managed locations.
  • Coordinate scheduled maintenance for complex mechanical systems, structural systems, general repairs, painting, and housekeeping.
  • Manage the division's CMMS, Cartegraph, and create equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Make independent judgment decisions concerning supervisory issues and maintenance assignments.
  • Prepare construction specifications for Facilities capital projects and supervise facilities maintenance contracts.
  • Assist in bidding, contracting, and supervision of contract labor.
  • Act as project supervisor for construction and renovation projects, managing project budgets and progress meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of private information according to laws and policies.
  • Prepare and maintain the annual budget for parking & maintenance assessment districts and present it to district members.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the downtown special service districts.
  • Supervise and direct work to full-time, part-time, and contractual staff.
