About The Position

The position of the Facilities Maintenance Specialist I will provide assistance with maintenance, repair, adjustment and minor construction work in the basic trades to ensure that facilities and equipment are properly maintained. This position conducts regular inspection to identify any irregularity in equipment, machines, furniture or other materials that are important for the functioning of facilities. Duties may fall into a variety of trade areas, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, lighting, grounds maintenance, fire and life safety and locks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent or one year of work experience in trades or labor.
  • Education or training in the facilities maintenance trades may substitute for work experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and possess an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, stand, crouch, bend, stoop, push, pull and work inside and outside in all weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of common hand tools, basic record keeping techniques and workplace safety procedures.
  • Ability to operate various tools and equipment including: hand and power tools, plumbing equipment and a variety of measuring equipment.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods and tools needed to repair or install equipment or systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to provide information to vendors, supervisor and/or management.
  • Great project management and planning skills.
  • Be a self-motivated individual who can also encourage other staff to achieve assigned goals.
  • General knowledge and troubleshooting skills in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent customer service skills..

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and Repair Tasks: Performs a variety of general maintenance and repairs to machinery, equipment, or facilities. Assists with general plumbing maintenance - maintain & repair gas, water, air, & sanitary plumbing pipes & fixtures. Assists with and learns to maintain and repair systems and components, including performing minor repairs to door hardware, fire and life safety protection/equipment systems, and mechanical systems as needed to support up-time of all equipment. Performs a variety of routine maintenance duties such as repairing & assembling extension cords, replacing fuses, lighting, replacing filters, and repairing leaks & clearing drain stoppages. Assist in the renovations and construction of facilities to maintain building appearance as required.
  • Facility Coordination and Support Functions: Maintain, track, and manage equipment files and manuals, maintenance records and procedures, parts storage, and inventory. Establishes & maintains courteous, cooperative relations when interacting with Food Bank personnel and external stakeholders. Assist in making necessary arrangements for internal and external Food Bank events. Knows and understands all safety procedures of the Food Bank. Duties and responsibilities are subject to change based on business needs.
