About The Position

As an Facilities Maintenance Mechanic, you are responsible for the repair, maintenance, and installation of all equipment and building systems. This includes preventative maintenance on all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, high purity water system, industrial waste water treatment systems as well as building and grounds. Duties will include daily rounds and readings, taking water samples, basic to intermediate preventative and non preventative maintenance procedures on fans, motors, blowers, chillers, boilers, pumps, vessels, valves, control systems, and other unit operations. Candidate will be required to do basic to intermediate level troubleshooting on facilities systems and make repairs, as necessary. Candidate will be required to access the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to obtain work orders as well as entering maintenance/repair information. Candidate will be required to interface regularly with the Engineering staff, other Facilities Technicians, and Vendors.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School diploma or GED required.
  • At least 2 years relevant work experience.
  • Experience with PVC piping, pumps, valves, hand and power tools is a plus.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good interpersonal skills, Office computer skills including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and other basic computer programs.
  • Ability to work compressed work week (12-hour shifts).
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive and non-preventative maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Dismantles equipment to gain access to and repairs or replaces defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
