About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance/Logistics Technician is responsible for two critical operational functions: Secure transport of highly sensitive physical documents and bloodborne pathogens between designated locations. Routine and emergency maintenance of facility infrastructure, equipment, and building systems to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations. This hybrid role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong situational awareness, technical aptitude, and a commitment to confidentiality, safety, and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in maintenance, carpentry, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools, power tools, and maintenance software.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and other documents.
  • Strong understanding of confidentiality protocols and secure handling procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and remain composed under pressure.
  • Physical stamina and manual dexterity to perform manual tasks and lift heavy objects.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass background checks and security clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Safely pick up, transport, and deliver confidential documents and bloodborne pathogens using approved procedures and secure containers.
  • Adhere strictly to all privacy, security, and information handling protocols.
  • Maintain accurate logs, signatures, and documentation for every transfer.
  • Optimize travel routes to ensure timely delivery while minimizing risk.
  • Identify and report any potential security concerns, irregularities, or breaches immediately.
  • Coordinate with authorized personnel to confirm delivery of, identity verification, and special handling instructions.
  • Represent the organization with professionalism, discretion, and reliability.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on building systems including lighting, plumbing, HVAC, doors/hardware, flooring, ceiling tiles, paint, and minor carpentry.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and repair nonclinical equipment such as exam room fixtures, waiting room seating, signage, and break room appliances.
  • Complete work orders promptly and document actions taken and materials used.
  • Ensure daily readiness of patient and staff areas, including hazard removal and spill response coordination.
  • Conduct routine safety rounds and correct hazards (trip risks, blocked egress, unsecured cylinders).
  • Inspect emergency lighting, exit signage, eyewash stations, AED cabinets (visual checks), fire extinguishers, panic hardware, and egress routes.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness activities (fire drills, severe weather, utility outages).
  • Maintain organized mechanical/electrical rooms and facility documentation (as-built drawings, permits, inspection reports).
  • Monitor HVAC systems, perform filter changes, and escalate system faults to licensed contractors.
  • Perform basic plumbing tasks and coordinate plumbers for advanced repairs.
  • Assist with generator/emergency power testing and maintain related logs.
  • Coordinate quotes, scheduling, site access, and escorting contractors; verify scope of completion.
  • Support small projects such as room reconfigurations, signage, and low voltage cable routing.
  • Manage maintenance supplies and maintain organized stock levels.
  • Track assets, warranties, and maintenance schedules.
  • Communicate professionally with clinicians and staff; prioritize work that impacts patient care and safety.
  • Minimize disruption to patient areas during maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with certified biomedical or licensed vendors for clinical/diagnostic equipment issues (this role does not service those systems).
