This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations. We are seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Lead to support our Altadena facility. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining all facilities and equipment, including major building systems across our 100K+ square feet of leased office, R&D, and warehouse space. You'll manage both hands-on maintenance activities and vendor relationships while supporting our mission to make space accessible for all.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in facilities maintenance within complex industrial environments
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building systems including: Building Management Systems (BMS) HVAC and controls Fire and life safety systems Security infrastructure Lighting control systems Electrical distribution Plumbing systems Backup power generation Compressed air/gas systems
  • Proven leadership experience within a facility organization
  • Experience using CMMS systems, particularly Maximo
  • Strong vendor management capabilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical

Nice To Haves

  • Industry-recognized certification in maintenance management (AFE-CPMM, IFMA-CFM, or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Perform and manage maintenance and repairs of facilities and equipment systems
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for contracted maintenance efforts
  • Support local business units in execution of their operational goals
  • Coordinate with 20+ vendors/contractors to ensure timely, cost-effective service delivery
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS/Maximo)
  • Maintain effective relationships with landlords of leased spaces
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives with measurable performance metrics
  • Prepare Statements of Work (SOW), negotiate with vendors, and coordinate RFP processes with procurement
  • Provide technical support to the construction team on internal projects
  • Participate in rotating on-call coverage (approximately 1 week per month) to address critical facility issues
  • Identify cost improvement opportunities within contracted services
  • Uphold and advance best-in-class safety standards for the team and facilities
  • Manage an annual operating budget of approximately $1.5M for services, repairs, and upgrades
